There are many different reasons why someone has bad breath or halitosis. Could be due to food or bad habits such as smoking or consumption of alcoholic beverages. But what about the bad breath in the morning, is it normal?

According to a leading dentist in New York, United States John Woodall, bad breath in the morning generally normal. However, this is actually bad breath can be controlled by maintaining proper oral hygiene by brushing your teeth at least twice a day.

"Almost everyone has bad breath in the morning. This is because when we sleep, saliva drastically reduced while the tongue and cheeks a little move. By doing so, eventually food residues accumulate in the mouth and produce an unpleasant odor," said Woodal, such as quoted by WebMD, Wednesday (04/22/2015).

Although normal, said Woodal, bad breath can be identified as a sign of a disease such as diabetes, liver disease, respiratory infections, and chronic bronchitis.

"Studies show that about 80 percent of bad breath comes from tooth decay or gum disease that can cause mouth. In addition, cracked fillings, and lack of dental hygiene could be the reason most people suffer from halitosis. There are also those with the problem of acid reflux (stomach acid ), postnasal drip, and other causes of chronic dry mouth (xerostomia), "he explained.

However, you do not need to worry because bad breath can disappear after breakfast and brush your teeth every day.
